The Oscars 2015

Ahhh the Oscars. The glitterati night of nights is here once again and in what has so far been a fairly blah red carpet year, the Oscar carpet has been A ok.With very few black gowns gracing the carpet, it's interesting (standard) that the ones that did, all ended up in my best dressed list which this year we kick off with little Donna Freedman of Ramsey St a.k.a, Margot Robbie. Finally taking a moment to wow herself on the red carpet (last year she was a bit snooze worthy) Margot hit the trifecta in this plunging Saint Laurent gown which she paired with a bold red lip and a sharp blonde bob. Killer hot & well deserving of a solid 9/10.Aussie #2 Cate Blanchett comes in second this year with her perfect black Maison Margiela gown fishtailing perfectly behind her. Adding an aqua neckpiece kept it interesting, and honestly safe but still seriously stunning nonetheless, so 9/10 for you CB.The beautiful Marion Cotillard rounds out my top 3 in surprise surprise: Dior Couture! The textural monochrome gown that pulled in neatly at the back was really a much needed breath of fashion forward air through an otherwise 'spirit fingers' selection of gowns. 8.5/10 for you Maz, well done. Finally can we talk about Lupita Nyong'o and her 7 million pearls? Amazing, like actually amazing and easily deserving of an 8.5/10 in custom Calvin Klein collection.

Sienna Miller just missed my top cut in Oscar de la Renta but still looked better than most other attending riff raff. Beautiful in black lace, 8/10. Meryl Streep nailed her sharp look in a slick black suit by Lanvin, elegant as: 8/10 while blogger Gwyn revisited sucessfull powder pink territory in a fitted Ralph & Russo one shoulder dress, 8/10. Naomi Watts finally lived on the edge a little in standard Armani Privé, a much needed move on from her dullsville looks of late, 7.5/10 there, mainly for improvement.

Jlo did what Jlo does and worked a princess style Ellie Saab gown in a colour that could barely be differentiated from her own skin colour and somehow, still made it work. 7.5/10. Lady Gaga also went princessy but put her own Gaga spin on it, pairing a stunning white Aläia gown with oversized red leather gloves. What can you say but, oh ok yeah cool. 7.5/10 because, well it's Gaga.jennifer-lopez-vogue-23feb15-getty_b_592x888
