Jeep Portsea Polo 2016
Yesterday I made the trip down to Portsea for the Polo for the very first time, and all I can say is - what a bonanza! Beautiful elaborate marquees, delicious food, thousands of cans of spray tan, meter upon meter of lace and of course a few horses & polo players. The crowd was at capacity and hungry for a fancy/get dressed up/get drunk all-day event - I mean it's been almost 3 months now since the races, these people are starving. Jokes. Although not really, because the Polo is everything you imagine it to be and more. The Melbourne Housewives are a real thing, Ralph Lauren is an unofficial fashion sponsor and there's lots of smalltalk over champagne and wasted finger food.
I was lucky enough to be hanging at the Jeep Marquee which aside from having the best crowd, also had the most amazing sweets cabinet by Burch & Purchase. Pastry Chef Darren Purchase recommended I try the Coconut, passionfruit, ginger & mint dessert in a tube and gees I'm thankful as it's probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. As Greek loving girl, naturally I was obsessed with the Peroni Marquee which had this Mediterranean white & blue thing going on, plus they had some excellent drinks going round and bartender Jamie Now from new Richmond Bar, The Ugly Duckling.
When it comes to fashion, it was a mixed bag really with the seasoned polo-goers nailing their looks while some girls got the wrong memo and thought they were headed CQ on a Saturday night. But generally speaking, white was the colour of the day and lace was the texture of the day, with both Zimmermann and Alice McCall dominating.
So all in all my first time at the Portsea Polo was awesome and with so much to shoot, how could I have not had a good time...
