Why you should wear jeans to Fashion Week
If you ever find yourself lucky enough with an invite to an amazing show at fashion week, do yourself a favour and go (obvs) but also, wear jeans. Yes, that's right, walk past your low cut little black dress, clutch & strappy heels - it's not Saturday night - and pull on your fav pair of blue jeans. One regular fail that I see at local fashion weeks is girls confusing a fashion show with a night out at the club, where the more 'done' you are the better. This might ring true for the Kardash klan and twenty-something-famous-for-my-squad peeps, but not for the industry crowd. The truth is (according to me) that an ideal outfit for a legit fashion week show could not be any more further from this. As we've seen day in day out at NYFW this week, mastering a fashion-cool yet casual look is where it's at, and don't get me wrong, this isn't a easy look to get right, but these days it starts with your jeans.
Boyfriends, skinnies, mums, 501's, skinnies with rips, wide-legs, flares - the list honestly goes on on (but doesn't include bootcut just to clarify) but it really doesn't matter what style. What matters is how you turn your trusty denim legs into something effortlessly en point as each season, the 'it' style will always change. If NY is anything to go by, the straight leg seems to be the flavour of the month. Here's a bit of inspo for you from the babes who have been at NYFW...

my picks
I'm into volume for jeans at the minute and obviously flares are still having a moment, but as we come into summer (sorry Northern hemisphere readers) here in Aus, for those Melbourne typical days, a light weight loose jean is ideal. Be wary to get the fit right though, as sadly, wide leg jeans much like wide leg pants, are not for everyone. Make sure they're still flattering and drop neatly of your hips if going for a low slung look, and if keeping it higher in the rise, then make sure they're shaped perfectly - no one wants a mum jean bum.
