Met Gala 2016 Red Carpet
In case your feeds haven't already received enough Met Gala spam, here's some more for you.The theme of this years Costume Institue exhibition is 'Manus x Machina', a celebration of technology in fashion. Naturally some guests blatantly ignored this while others really embraced the concept - Zac Posen, Hi, I'm talking about you.
With so much celeb eye candy happening on the red carpet it's easy to forget that up the stairs and just inside the museum is an incredible exhibition, the result of months of hard work from a team working around the clock. Just ask Alicia Vikander and Kylie Jenner, who when interviewed, were asked what they were looking forward to from the evening ahead: Alicia, "I'm really looking forward to seeing the exhibition" and Kylie (with momager & stage 14 clinger Kris Jenner smiling on approvingly), "I'm just like really looking forward to the red carpet". Well done.
Anyway, now guys it's time to chat frocks and across the board, I gotta say, it was pretty good. Which is kinda bad, cos I do love a red carpet disaster, but this year everyone seems to have had a fairly good look in the mirror before they left the house.
Queen Bey once again owned the red carpet in her latex Givenchy dress, otherwise known as 'Becky's skin' and because I can't stop listening to lemonade, she takes out best dressed for me, side chick skin and all.Alicia Vikander comes in a close second this year in her cute-as-a-Louis Vuitton-techno-button dress and boots. She can literally do no wrong on the red carpet and has pretty much won all season, so I suppose this is just another notch on her sartorial belt. And third place was a tough one to call, so I've had to split it multiple ways. Zoe Saldana is there, well because Met Gala = Trains on dresses and for this alone, she kinda won 8/10. Naomi Campbell is there because, she's an anti-ageing phenomenan who is still the living definition of a bonafide supermodel 8.5/10. Poppy Delevingne is also up there - her heavy metal silver situation is beyond. Like literally beyond good when compared to most of the other silver glitter balls that rocked up, 8/10.
SJP had everyone talking in her more casual red carpet look, but I'm all about it. From the back especially, that open jacket was a winner, shame I can't find a shot of it though, soz, a decent 7/10 for her. I was wrapped to see old skool Gaga out and about again, it's been too long between leotards, welcome back I love, 8/10. Emily Rat, you're a babe and Prabal Gurung, you babed her up perfectly, although I have never been a fan of mesh, so points lost there, 7/10. Swifty, your hair colour is killer and I'm obsessed but it needs some style love, this shag thing ain't my thing. Cute dress though, but kinda girls night out, not your finest 6/10. And while we're on the kids of America, Kendall: snooze. Seen it before but not bad so 6/10. And Kylie, not sure why you're there, but your Balmain was sorta ok, 6/10.
And I could go on all night about everyone but I won't pain you with that, but do tell, who was your best & worst?
