The Beauty Products I Actually Use When Travelling
At home I’m a minimalist, if there’s no space for it then it goes. When I travel however, I’m basically a hoarder, especially when it comes to toiletries.
On my recent trips overseas, I’ve failed dismally when it’s come to packing only what I’ll actually use. You see when I pack, I like to be prepared for every possible scenario so I naturally overpack. As much as I’d like to think my trips are exactly like the Net-a-Porter ‘what to pack for a European Summer’ email, the reality is that I don’t actually like wearing makeup or spending a lot of time with skincare routines when I’m on holiday. Ask me how many times I wore lipstick on my last trip, go on ask - well I’ll tell you. Not once, despite packing seven different colours (4 peachy nudes, 2 reds and an orange). I wore Mecca Cosmetica Lip d’luscious most days and thats about it.
I like to be up, fresh-faced and ready to go as quickly as possible. This includes hair, which I let air dry every day despite the European water being hellishly drying - on a side note: pack a moisturising hair mask to combat this, which I forgot to do on this last trip.
As such I feel I’ve made peace with my inclination to ditch makeup & loads of product when on holiday, as when I really thought about it, these are the products I actually used during my last trip…
Chanel Handcream - No explanation necessary, it’s handcream.
Avene 30+ lip balm - To avoid the inevitable lip burn.
Go-To Transformazing mask - Used these after spending days out in the sun to rehydrate
Korres Santorini Body Milk - This is my fav body moisturiser ever, and I genuinely can’t travel without it. This is the travel size.
Mecca Cosmetica Lip De-luscious - The nude shade became the final part of my daily makeup routine.
Bisous Face Wipe - Because you still need to wash your face even when you’re not wearing makeup.
Nuxe 50+ sunscreen - Poolside essential obviously, especially when you forget your Mecca sunscreen.
Aesop moisture spray - You literally can’t fly long haul without a hydrating spritz like this.
Omorvicza BB Cream - I was gifted this before my trip and it turned out to be one of the best BB creams I’ve ever used. Only base product used during my whole trip.
Embryolisse Cream - Stocked up on this French beauty, as it’s heaven for dry or dehydrated skin. I used it to repair my windburnt lips and as a night moisturiser.
Dr Barbara Sturm Facial Scrub - I can’t go more than a week without exfoliating, so to save space, I decanted some into the travel containers from Mecca.
Maison Margiela Jazz Club fragrance - I tend to buy fragrances when i travel but I still always pack a travel size one for the handbag too.
