2015 Golden Globes Red Carpet

Awards season has once again kicked off with the Golden Globes being held earlier this morning. The awards ceremony that brings the moviestars together with the television stars was a sea of Switzerland this year, with a fairly safe & neutral overtone to most looks. I'm all for being safe, as you'd rather that than end up on a worst dressed list, but even still, c'mon guys (and when I say that I am referring to the many stylists who have been enlisted to dress all these celebs) it's a bit boring, so lets try and amp it up for the Oscars please.Anyhoo, lets get into it, starting as always with my favs; My Top 3, which this year starts with cutie Sienna Miller in a stunning encrusted Miu Miu gown. Not just perfect styling but perfect playful details and the precise amount of exposed skin give her a solid 9/10. Coming in a close second, Louise Roe, absolutely beautiful in layered draped peach perfection by Jenny Packham also 9/10. Well done you. Rounding out my top 3, Emma Stone bringing out the pant suit in the most ideal way thanks to Lanvin. Her encrusted strapless chandelier top absolutely warranted a black pant with tied sash situation, so for being a bit daring and somewhat interesting, Stoney gets an 8/10 from me.

The Jens arrived in their usual style, with La la Lopez staying true to her red carpet specialist, Zuhair Murad who must have mistaken the Gold Globes brief for an arabian princess broadway show, decking JLo out in about 43 metres of beaded beige fabric, which has resulted in her only getting a measly 5/10, just too much of everything. Jen-Rachel-from-Friends however, seemed to be on a winner with her stunning black Saint Laurent halter gown but took her look to snoozeville once her basic hairdresser from 2002 got involved with a french roll and then suggested dangly earrings. So for having no will power to refuse these silly styling options, she really can't take more than a 6/10.

Amal Clooney made her Mrs Clooney red carpet debut in a stunning black Dior gown which she paired back with white satin opera gloves and if I'm being really honest, if anyone else had done the same, I'd probably slate them, but given she is a human rights lawyer who just safely tucked George Clooney away, off the market and into her handbag, so she can pretty much do whatever she wants. 7.5/10. Kate Hudson on the other hand rocked her default shade of white in Versace va voom, complete with sparkly sparkle bits and cut aways that could only have been cut by Donatella. 7/10. Emily Blunt actually looked really soft & beautiful in her draped white Michael Kors, but it just felt a bit 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt', but pretty nonetheless, so a modest 7.5/10.

This year fortunately, there were no major disasters, there was just Lana Del Ray. A vision of turquoise pleated shining satin, Del Ray didn't miss the mark, she just missed the memo about not looking like an origami napkin at a chinese restaurant. Thats ok, as Aaliyah once said, you can dust it off and try again, try again. 2/10. Now the following is not often said aloud, but in this case (Keira Knightley) it needs to be said: Just because it's Chanel, doesn't mean it's always perfect. There I said, it, and now I'm crouching hiding behind my couch because I'm worried Karl has heard me. But honestly, this dress, not great. Not flattering, not pretty, not ok, soz. 4/10

Then there was the rest: Claire Danes in textured pretty Valentino that pretty much swamped her 5/10, CZJones looked just like CZJones always does, yawn 5.5/10. Reese W & Maggie G played it safe in slinky strapless gowns, 6/10 each, while Amy Adams lived a powder blue dream in a beautifully fitting Versace gown, 7/10 and Naomi Watts channelled old glamour in mello yellow Gucci 6/10 with points lost for the unnecessary snake necklace.
