Met Gala 2015

Met Gala 2015 StylesnooperdanThis year guests of the Met Gala were invited to embrace 'China: Through the looking glass', pay US$25,000 for their ticket and hook up with a designer to dress them. And that is exactly what they did. The red carpet quickly became a sea of Asian interpretation; eastern inspired floral prints, meters upon meters of satin and a few dragons for good measure. So obviously we need to talk who wore what and how that worked out, let's start with the big namers and see how they fared.

As much as I feel meh-take-em or leave-em about the kardash-jenner clan, I have to give my best dressed to Kendall who wore a slinky green Calvin Klein dress with some klassy with a K side-boob. Fit like a glove, perfectly understated and sexy, she's living the model dream to perfection so a solid 9/10. Meanwhile on the other side of the carpet, Riri made an entrance utilising two burley minder men to carry her omlette inspired coatigan which wasn't actually the worst part of her ensemble; her Carol Brady hair topped with a headpiece, was about 7 steps too far - 5/10. Someone else who's hair sitch let them down was (it pains me to say) Beyonce. I mean usually she can do no wrong and her beaded Givenchy dress was next level, but the curled ponytail (literally on the top of her head) was just a little too Toddlers & Tiara's for me, so only 7/10 there. In saying this though, Bey did win the 'less is more' competition, with fellow contenders JLo and Kimmy K just missing out on the crown, each probably as surprised as the other at being out-shone. I mean who'd have thought skin tight beige mesh would be so big this year?

A perennial goodie was Dian Krugs, subtly startling in an embellished Chanel pant situation - beautiful, 8.5/10 while J Law was standard stunning in Dior HC - an easy 8.5/10 there. SJP looked like SJP and worked a headpiece; a nice nod to the costume institute, 7.5/10 and Kris Jenner was also there (why? I do not know) stage 5 clinging again, in a fire engine red Balmain dress - 4/10 - maybe go home.

All in all a fairly good turn out for the China: Through the Looking Glass gala, nothing too outrageous and nothing too mind bogglingly beautiful. Anyway enough about me and what I think, who won the Gala for you?
